Traffic Strategies for The Busy Internet Marketer

Maybe it has slipped your attention, but the most often used approach to making money on the web is to have a website. Of course, you can't let your website stay hidden in the closet, people have to find it. So the term you always see for your site's visitors is "traffic." And again, the more traffic your site gets, the more chances you have to convert some of that traffic to sales. Just like applying for a job, you want to make as much as possible - so that is the point to it all. Ok, let's move onto how you can make those traffic stats look impressive.

One strategy you can use is blog commenting; it's best to leave comments on blogs related to your niche. This can, however, be tricky. You don't want to simply leave a "great blog!" comment. People who do this are considered spammers. The best way to leave a comment on a blog post is to actually read the blog post and then write a couple of sentences about what you think about what you've just read. This will prove that you actually read the blog and that you are participating in a helpful way. This also increases the chances that the owner of the blog and maybe some readers will visit your website in return. If you are a valued participant, there is also the chance that the blog owner will give you a place in his blogroll!

So, ok... you can produce articles in your market and submit to directories and other places. And do not forget your link(s) in the article bio box at the bottom of the article. You want to submit your articles to as many directories as possible. Some article directories, the better ones, will frown on submitting an article that has also been submitted to a lot of other places. Many directories will ban users who submit duplicate content. However you can avoid this issue with a solid content spinning application and some fresh weekly articles. Remember: the more your name is spread around the internet the more people will visit your site and the better your reputation will be.

Register with several social media networks and fill out the profiles, including your website url. Having your profile on such high traffic sites as MySpace and Facebook can bring you a lot of publicity! You can build a large amount of traffic, which can lead to sales, but taking advantage of these sites, even if you don't immediately see them as internet marketing tools. Take a look at the profiles others in your niche have created and learn for yourself what works and what doesn't. You could build up quite a few repeat buyers!

There are literally thousands of techniques to drive traffic to anywhere you want. You'll always want methods that are sustainable over the long-run. An hour or two every day, and you'll see a huge difference in a little while. This means that you are creating hundreds of possible sales opportunities. Thankfully if you keep working at it, you should be able to build up quite a stable of traffic to your website!

  1. Excellent post. I'd like to add a note about blog commenting. It would be more effective if you leave a link with a dofollow attribute. The opinions are actually divided whether you should comment on blogs with nofollow attribute or not. So to be sure, prioritize those with dofollow attributes for comments.
